My interest in makeup and art started at the early age of seven, where I raided my mom's makeup draer and started messing around with lipstick, eye shadows and whatever other makeup I could find. I grew up in a small town called Santa Paula. I am the oldest of three boys and two step sisters and a step brother.
I was always interested in art, fashion and music due in part to my family background. My dad is a guitar player and songwriter; my mom is a jewelry designer and my stepdad is a drummer. So creativity has always been around me.
In middle school and high school I became part of the punk rock culture and a lot of my artwork and makeup techniques reflect my background within the alternative lifestyle cultures. School was always very difficult for me. I never really fit in with my peers due a lot to my style preferences and also because my autism and ADHD made it hard for me to make friends. My way of coping was through art, fashion and music. I spent most of my time creating and trying to innovate my style and make something new. As I grew older I began getting more interested in darker more macabre forms of fashion, art and music which fueled me to become part of the gothic and death rock subcultures. I especially like the emphasis on the makeup of these cultures which displayed a darker more intricate and artistic makeup style.
My first experiences with makeup involved doing my own makeup and makeup on friends, family and whoever was willing to have me perform my artistic medium on them (I have even had guys friends let me practice on them). i spent a lot of time on YouTube and other websites watching makeup tutorials which helped me diversify my makeup techniques. I've done many different makeup looks like gothic, Arabic (which is one of my favorites), pinup, basic makeup, smokey eyes and twenties(which is another one of my favorites).
My makeup idols include Kevin Aucoin, Scott Barnes, Shu Iemera, Max Factor, Alexis Vogel, Billy B.
My dream has always been the same, to make people look and feel beautiful and fabulous. I will never want to do makeup for my own selfish gain. I want to change someone's opinion about themselves, to make them realize that they really are a work of art and Iwould like to empower them to go out and take over the world one glamorous step at a time. I mean isn't that what makeup is and should be about?
