Amateur photographer, in my day job I am a biologist. Been making images for decades, starting back when the only camera with auto anything was the Konica with autoexposure. Enjoyed working in the darkroom as a kid. At one time I had a photo studio but it got overloaded with equipment and tools and was inhibiting creativity so I got rid of it and stopped shooting for a few years. I'm starting to get back into it, mostly street photography but also some location lighting with a mobile kit, currently Profoto B1s, B2s and a few modifiers. Less is more when it comes to lighting, I think. I like working with gels and color, as well as natural light of course.

I'm most interested in photos that tell rich stories. I'm particular about technique, particularly color composition and concept, but don't care much for the current emphasis on sharpness and focus, as I'm much more interested in mood and story. In my favorite images the environment is as important as the subject, another reason to get out of the studio.
