I have spent a lifetime as a fine art and portrait photographer, a motion picture and stage director/producer, a writer and a teacher.

Seldom am I satisfied merely to record another "pleasant likeness." I want my work to do much more than that. I believe the best person-photographs start with a subject's honest inner actions, moments which are elicited, and then realized photographically, by my long experience as a motion picture and theater director and by my originality as a visual artist.

In my view, if our work fails to reveal some kind of truth, it cannot be art -- and so may not be worth doing.

That being said, for me every creative and collaborative shoot will always have an intrinsic and enduring value; it can be wonderfully fulfilling -- and simply a treasure. With this in mind, and for exceptional, honest subjects, I am open to TFCD possibilities.

I hold a B.A. and an M.A. from the University of Michigan and an M.F.A. from the University of Southern California (where I also taught motion picture production).
