I am a sculptor. My reason for joining MM is to network with others involved in depicting the human form.
My work is mainly life sculptures, also called life castings, in which impressions are made directly from the model using a quick, comfortable, and harmless process and then transformed into different materials such as bronze, raku fired clay, different resins and Forton MG. What touches the skin is alginate which made from seaweed and the experience is similar to a seaweed wrap in a spa. Unlike plaster and even plaster bandages which were not intended for direct skin contact and pose some risks along with minimal detail retention. Alginate is so safe that Dentists use it to make impressions inside your mouth. Alginates ability to capture detail is amazing, not only fingerprints and skin texture. Whilst I don't normally do " Time for sculpture", I always have a number of ideas which could be waiting for the right model to come along. It never hurts to ask. I am always interested in increasing my supply of a perfect " Life Sculptures" for Forton MG, resin, and raku fired torsos. I am also looking for both male and females who are serious fitness enthusiasts. If you have an exceptionally proportioned and conditioned and feel you might be ideal for either of these projects, I would love to talk with you.
I always consider the models with whom I work to be partners in the creative process and encourage their ideas and input.
Though it depends upon the concept, I prefer models for my own work who are athletically conditioned like a dancer. I am much more interested in proportion than height. I am not a fan of breasts enhancements if disproportionately large.
While I do use male models occasionally, the female form is much more commonly depicted in art.
