Ricky Clay is the Director of Photography in Hollywood, CA
A pioneer and specialist in fashion editorials, still photography, broadcast television and media advertising. Ricky’s extensive experience in writing, producing, directing, lighting, shooting and editing, combined with his creativity and astute marketing sense have been responsible for his vision and leadership in the industry.

Ricky, acknowledged as a leading newspaper and magazine photographer nationally, ranked number one across the USA for the best Sunday style section photography two years in a row, by over 90 Gannet newspapers including USA Today. He holds two first place awards from the editors of National Geographic magazine for Documentary Photojournalism. He photographed the first “fashion” layouts for Sports Illustrated magazine and worked as an analyst in the Executive Office of the President on the White House Staff for two Administrations.

Ricky has been working in film, broadcast television and video production for over 16 years. He has produced or worked on projects in more than 25 countries for a variety of companies, from automakers to tacos. Mr. Clay has received top honors “Best Motion Picture” at The National Independents 2004 film festival. He won Best Director and Best Short Film in the 2005 Ohio State Film Festival. He produced or directed short films in the Sundance Film Festival, Black American Film Festival & African American Film Festival. He produced the short films Mullit, The Swinger and Speechless currently airing on HBO and Showtime.

Ricky is from the Washington, D.C. area. He was Student Government President honored in Who’s Who Among American Students. He attended Georgetown University, Antioch University, Macalester College, UCLA for film production and completed his Bachelor of Arts at George Washington University.

Ricky Produced The Bicentennial Festival of the Arts with Oprah Winfrey as his MC. He received the Outstanding Young Men of America Award and a Community Service Award from The National Medical Association at Howard University. He has been a member of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, The Professional Photographers of America,
The National Press Club, The National Association of Television Program Executives, The National Infomercial and Marketing Association, the National Association of Broadcasters and The National Organization of Women in Film and Television.

Currently, as manager and director of his own studio in Hollywood, Mr. Clay produces, directs and edits Film and HD projects, Short Films, Documentaries, Commercials, Music Videos, EPK’s, Corporate Videos, Infomercials and Print Campaigns, in addition to providing production assistance with studio and equipment rentals for internationally distributed Television programs, retail DVD’s and Movies made for TV.

Ricky joined MM upon the advice of many members he has photographed that are current members and want to see credits appear with the photos they post.
