About Me

LAST UPDATED 11 JAN 2015:
If you like my photos or creative writing/pseudo blog, let me know(by sending a message). I think ill commit to updating this weekly, especially if people enjoy which I know many of you do.

An interesting story behind the pool photo shoot. Before we started, the model said to me "If you're going to make me get in that cold pool, than you should get in it too." So both me and my camera got in the pool for the shoot.

I started on B&W film, I would like to think that all photographers should use film at some point. It certainly taught me the importance of paying attention to the details, and not being shutter happy. Film, developer, and photo paper costs money. I learned to take the shot right the first time.

I'm a commercial photographer, which I have failed to state on this page for awhile now. My point is, I will never pay a model unless I'm being paid by a business for a commercial shoot, or if you are just that awesome. I'm not saying I'm tired of all the near daily solicitations from models, but I'm simply saving you time from sending a message that doesn't need to be sent. Not to sound to high and mighty, but if your interested in modeling for me commercially, send me a z card and or bio and ill put you in the little black book. When it comes to fun/creative/weekend/personal project shoots, there are more than enough models out there that will shoot for free, even nudes by the way.

Even though I am entitled to posting 500 photos, I will probably only put a few up at a time. My larger and much higher quality portfolio is at www.DXMphoto.com if you care to check it out, and an addendum to that statement: I have been lazy and don't update that site either. Start supporting it and ill get motivated.

/////////////My Rants and Pseudo Blog start here///////////////////////

11JAN15: I was contacted by a model today who blew my mind. Ill give her a shout out now. Melissa Troutt (http://www.modelmayhem.com/mtroutt. If you are a model, whether new or experienced; go check her page out. If you are a photographer who loves shooting art nudes, or claims to shoot art nudes (even though your vision of art nude is basically porn) go check her out.
1st off: She can pick a photographer well(myself excluded). I'm not a judge for any international photo competitions, however I can say that Melissa has the best portfolio of genuine art nudes I have ever seen on Model Mayhem.
Allow me to share with you the background.
For the longest time I have been bitching to my photo friends, and even models I meet and work with about my policy on art nudes. I just don't get into them. The reason why is because of all the porn producers on Model Mayhem. Photographers on this site seem to bring out the worst in the term "ART" when used with nudes. Long story short, if the supposed "Art Nude photo" turns you on, then its just porn and you suck. Just call it porn from the start and then ill enjoy it and compliment you on your efforts. Its not like I've never shot lingerie, boudoir or art nude before, but I don't want to have those shots on my pages have 75.000 views and likes; when other shots I have taken get 16 views. Some advice for the Model Mayhem porn producers out there, make your "art nude" about the lighting and environment. Let the beauty of the nude model compliment your ability to manage the light and scene. If I'm wrong about any of this let me know and as a payment ill tag your portfolio or comment on photo of yours, because I know how much you like that.

(Awhile Ago) So I think genres are fucking stupid. I have been on Model Mayhem for a week and I have noticed that most people have almost every genre selected, probably because they feel it makes them more searchable and people will find them. That may be true but who cares really. It makes it look like your just trying to be found on a search. What do you really like to model or photograph? I opt to select none of the above, because I'll just list that below. At the moment my creative side tells me I like:
Swimsuits and stuff with water (look at my photos, and me in the pool. Obviously ill do a photoshoot of you for your portfolio in a pool, and besides I like swimming.)
Fashion to any degree in the natural element
Fashion to any degree in the urban element
I love cars, so models with cars. See, where is that option on the genre list?
Chances are if its a challenge ill accept it, and if its creative ill participate willingly.
When it comes to commercial photography, I'm ready to select all the boxes the way everyone else does here, but that makes sense because you gotta please the client.
If I offended you leave a message and ill say sorry.

(Also Awhile Ago) P.S. Another thing I'm noticing is the occasional hack photographer that thinks they are super pro. They have all sorts of comments on their profile about how they can help out a models portfolio, but they have shit photos on their own portfolio, and clearly use 150 dollar cameras. I believe you that you're pro, just do us a favor and post your good photos up, and go back to using your EOS 1Dx when you photograph new models who don't know the difference. Spare them the indecency of using your half ass photo for their portfolios.
PS again If the first bit didn't offend you, and the second bit did, once again leave a message and ill say sorry.

PS Ill never apologize... hehe
