About Me

Kathy co-founded HUE, the Fashion Legwear Company that revolutionized the hosiery industry. An early adopter of Lycra, she pioneered technical innovations to create one size garments, and made the first stretch cotton and opaque tights. She created new silhouettes like the trouser sock, stirrup and footless tights and produced exciting combinations of colors and patterns that elevated hosiery to a fashion accessory. In 1989, long before brands like Lululemon began making leggings out of Supplex Nylon,( they call it LUON) Kathy introduced Supplex leggings as streetwear with the HUE cuffed legging. You might say HUE brought legs into the 20th century. She and her partner sold the company in 1992 , and it continues today as a highly recognizable international brand.
In 2004, Kathy founded vere, the first “bean to bar” artisanal chocolate company that showcased chocolate as an ancient antioxidant rich food as opposed to a sugary candy. She built a state of the art factory in the heart of Manhattan and produced a line of exceptional products & packaging. As the founder of vere, Kathy appeared on numerous television shows including “How The Best Is Done”, and in 2008 vere won “The Best Artisanal Confection“ for its Salted Caramel & Cacoa Nibs.
Following the founding of vere Kathy produced a small line of unique totes made from Tyvek under the name veregoods, which sold in shops such as MoMA and MAD, rekindling her first love ….fashion.
She is now launching OKOKO, a line of fashionable, smart products made from unique & modern materials.
Kathy holds a B.S. in Math & Science from S.U.C.B., and a B.F.A & M.F.A. from Yale University School of Art & Architecture
