I am a professional artist that is a contemporary romantic realist painter. I work from photos, life, and imagination to create narrative portraits/figurative oil paintings. My style is contemporary romantic and the figures and portraits evoke human presence on the canvas. Many of the models in my paintings are artists as well from many art forms such as film, theater, dance, music, and visual arts. I was trained in acting and was a dancer, so I am familiar with how to be natural in front of the camera. As I turned to oil painting, I do use myself as the model at times, but need models that know how to take direction and are natural in body movement. I do not like a staged fake presence, but prefer a natural moment unless the concept of my work calls for theatrical.
