Bio:
What do you do with a God given talent, with no means to use it? You make a way. That’s what I have done with my aptitude for photography and videography. Given meager means to pursue my dream, I have not given up hope of overcoming the odds, and leaving behind a legacy of failure for my destined success.

Dating back to my early high school years in the Media Academy at Crenshaw High School, I was always ready with camera in hand to capture any worthwhile footage to compile memorabilia for my classmates. After selling-out of my School of Hard Knocks€ videos at Crenshaw High School, I went on to create an anthology of the hottest party footage throughout South Central Los Angeles. My love of slow motion footage and still images inspired me to delve deeper into photography and videography.

My first major assignment as a freelance photographer was at the Dogg Pound €œCali Iz Active€ video shoot. I got to capture the whole West Coast on film. I don’t remember the last time someone was able to do that, especially someone with my experience. From there I moved on to several independent photo shoots for up and coming models, rap artists, actors, and singers. My goal is to capture your best shot and for you to be fully represented in the photos I take. My job is to make you feel comfortable and to take your natural actions and turn them into art.

After graduating from high school and enrolling at California State University, Northridge€™ Film School, financial issues led me to pursue full-time employment. It was hard having to leave school. I knew that I would never give up and I had plans on going back, but I had to do what I needed to do to eat, so I went to work. I secured a position working in the oil refineries, but never lost sight of my true focus, photography and videography. I would be sitting at the holes or  on fire watch duty with my sketch book, and I would draw out scenes for my shoots. I wasn'€™t giving up. Never! I saved what I made and put it towards my vision. My passion for my work led me to invest every dime of my oil refinery savings, into developing my own business, Lars Young Photography and Videography. I wanted to be able to offer an affordable alternative, but I didn'€™t just want to give you the hood version of a photographer. I bought the best equipment, and I use top quality supplies. I know what it is like to have a dream, and not have the monetary backing to pursue it. I’m still struggling, the love that I get from people who see my work, makes it worthwhile. I would do this for free if I could.
I have developed my talent to include King Leo Productions/Lion Heart Entertainment, which consists of logo and graphic design, commercials, photo/dvd event compilations of weddings, birthdays, retirements, and other special occasions.
I want people to look at me and see a talented person, not just another statistic. I’m going to be the next Gordon Parks or John Singleton. Believe that!
