My name is Michael Shane Den Beste, I am mostly a portrait photographer.  My origins in Photography started as a kid shooting mostly landscapes in the American South West Desert.  After College (Art Institute of Seattle - 1999) I started working more with models as subjects and started bringing the two together.  After college I interned with Limited - Quad/Graphics shooting fashion.

I hate shooting 'studio' nudes.  I prefer to find a fun location with an interesting background to shoot a model in front of; it adds something that seems more appealing to me.  Feel free to contact me for any kind of photography, I am not set on shooting one kind of photography, it's just my personal favorite to shoot artistic nudes because of the expressional freedom it carries.  In some cases I am up for shooting artistic portraits not in the nude, but it just depends and I treat it case-by-case.

I am willing in SOME cases to pay a model, however I try to shoot TFCD for the most part.  I don't really want to pay a model for what I consider art.  In a world where there are thousands of people who want to share art expression without charging someone, I don't feel comfortable paying someone to be a part of what should be a cooperative 'art' experiment.  That said, if you are someone who has a lot of experience modeling nude, and have something to offer a shoot other than the 'good looks' you were born with, I may be persuaded to pay you.  I don't pay models just as a way of compensating them to 'be nude.'  if you don't want to be nude, don't be nude!  It's just that simple.

I have a MUA (Makeup Artist) with 5 years exp on hand anytime.  so I have access to most models needs regarding makeup and very basic hairstyling, but am open to models bringing their own MUA's and Stylists.  I just ask that you give me fair warning.

I want to be clear that I’m highly professional when shooting.  A lot of male photographers like to 'use' photography as an excuse to pick up on attractive girls.  I don't, end of subject.  I do like to get to know a model if I intend to shoot on more than one occasion simply because as everyone knows there is a level of awkwardness involved in this sort of photography.  It's a much smoother process if everyone is comfortable around each other, and the end result shows itself in the final photos.
