Timothy Lantz

Timothy Lantz is a full time web developer/graphic artist with degrees in Art Education and Communications. During his career he has worked on seemingly everything including weather maps, television commercials, book covers and tarot cards.

How I work:
My work is a crazy, “mad scientist” mix of different media. Look close and you’ll see hand drawn/hand painted elements mixed with digital photography, found objects and photo textures all painstakingly combined into a unified image through the magic of photoshop, painter and illustrator.

What I’m Looking for in Models:
I’m primarily interested in models willing to do implied/artistic nudity. Since the human form is central to a lot of what I do, I prefer the blank canvas of the unclothed form. There are technical reasons for this as well as aesthetic.

With the nature of my work, its important to have as clean a base image as possible. Anyone who’s worked in photoshop or digital imaging can attest that its easy to add, while nearly impossible to subtract. In this regard, I usually prefer my models to tend toward a more natural style of hair and make-up, which allows me to add the elements I want digitally with greater results.

Aesthetically, I’m often influenced by the classic painters of the symbolist movement. To my eye, their work captures beauty without objectification and that’s something I aspire to achieve in my own images.
