Hey there... I hope this hasn't been discussed much before... I tried to search before hand and didn't turn up much.

Right now, I am using the Cinema Secrets foundation palettes. I was wondering if they would would work well for bridal... or if you would recommend something different?

Thanks for any input!

If you look at the top of the stylist forum there's a FAQ. It's pretty nifty. If you look at a few threads you can read what epople like to use and make your own decision.

I've never used cinema secrets so I'm no help...

However, I really like stila's skin illuminating foundation for everyday wear, and I think it would rock for bridal... smile

I prefer FACE Atelier. That and Dior Airflash foundation, those two i'm into these days....

Depending on the season, i find certain cream foundations too rich and travel on the skin. You have to use products that will last the entire day. Low maintenance foundation is key, especially in 90 degree weather.

I love MUFE face and body liquid and matte velvet foundation.

I wonder if anyone uses any MAX Factor and L'oreal true match and HIP foundations?

Thank you

I have 2 HIP yellow tones for my kit to change my foundation's undertone when I get someone really yellow - which happens alot. I do'nt know how it photographs, though. I've only used it for movies.

I truly hated the HiP foundations, as it was color deposit only but no real coverage.  The lightest color they had was too dark and yellow for me, and I'm not the lightest person I ever met, and I'm certainly not that pink.

Anyway, I love CS for bridal, as the makeup won't budge, and it's water resistant (for those crying brides).

My business is about 40% bridal...and these brides spend big bucks for their photos... I use Cinema Secrets for bout 80% of all the brides.  The photographers love CS.  I also use Smashbox primers before.  The staying power is well received and I have no complaints whatsoever from brides, even after the longest days.  I have yet to try Dan Read Cosmetics, but have heard they have amazing staying power in humidity.  I'm a huge fan of FA and MUFE, but I find the cost is prohibitive compared to CS.  I always set all foundations I use with just the right non-color powders and they stay without traveling.  This goes for most skintypes but the most oily...in which I have to use a mattifying lotion prior to using Dual Finish by Lancome for those skin types.  I tend not to use cream on very oily skin.  I have yet to take up airbrush but am considering that as well for bridal.

Thanks to those who tried to construcively help me with what I asked about. Especially FaceArts and EmElle. I did have a specific question, and I appreciate your direct answering of it as opposed to referring me to threads about the general subject area.

Well, you should read those threads also.  That response is just as important and as valid as the others.

On topic, I love RCMA and MUFE face and body for bridal.  They are pretty much all I use.  I like Benefit Playsticks also, you would be surprised how beautifully they apply and how gorgeous they look on the skin.

I agree with Lucy!  Those threads are voluminous yes, but PACKED with so much info...it would take forever to get thru them in one sitting.  I learn something new everyday by reading them.

Thank you Lucy luv.  Why is it that so many want the shortcuts?? Tried and true information is so often the most beneficial.  Especially for a newer artist.  One lesson I have learned in my life over and over again, is that experience IS the BEST teacher.  I also learned that if you tAKE the time to read the threads of questions that have been asked and answered you have the benefit of some of the best Pros and there trial and error experiences.  AND ITS ALL FOR FREE.  FREE FOR THE READING!!!!!

Yes, I agree!
I use the same thing as you. Smashbox Primer and CS foundation w/ translucent powder. It photographs very well.
I am also setting myself up to take up airbrushing.
Does anyone know a thread here that talks about that and the supplies recommended?

Brides come with different types of skin and needs.  Some brides want to look nice for their guests and others want to look good for their photos.

I carry about six different types of foundation to suit what ever type of skin needs they have.

I really don't think there is such a thing as Bridal foundation.

Sorry....this is a little off topic BUT I pretty much always use CS foundations on brides and I actually use it before airbrushing them too sometimes for more coverage. I Love it!! WHICH is why I wanted to ask this while everyone was discussing CS. I just ordered a few more palettes (inmykit.com) from that list....well I got the #1 thinking it's a "foundation" since its listed as that on the site...but it says "concealer" on the palette.....Does anyone know anything about that? is it just a concealer? I don't want to put that all over someone's face!  ha! sorry for changing the subject a bit but I have a shoot tomorrow and wanted to try the new colors out!

Thanks!

After moisturizer and primer (if necessary) I have been using RCMA as a very thin first layer and than airbrush ever so lightly OCC over top. If they need more coverage after that...I will layer another thin layer of OCC until I get the coverage I need.  Last weekend I had a bridesmaid who was just getting over a very bad cold (I am in Florida and she was coming in from New York) and she just started hacking away mid makeup...I thought she was going to cough up a lung...tears started rolling down her face...I just dabbed them away and kept it moving...I was on a schedule...lol

so it IS just concealer??? I wish i would have figured that out!! I have like 1000 of those! I wanted foundation palettes!! so just use it strictly for eyes, blemish, etc?? good to know because I have had clients that even the lightest CS color isn't light enough for! maybe I can can just use that?? I will have to play with it and see if it looks to heavy,etc... thank you though!!

You COULD use it as foundation, but the colors are very....salmon, pinky. With 2 greenish shades to correct redness, if im not mistaken.

If you dont carry a shade that is light enough, I recommend you carry a white cream base to cut it with, such as cinema secrets, or even a white liquid. Yaby and MAC make a white liquid foundation.

For bridal I usually use Revlon colorstay(the combination formula only for photos). I also use my beloved face atelier on my client's that have dry or mature skin. I set with a no-color translucent poweder but Revlon doesn't require powder.

I'm seriously all about Vapour foundations now. Yes I will be repeating it like a broken record, I like them that much. From my very first sample over a month ago, to using it on a novel book cover shoot yesterday, I am in LOVE.
Phasing out everything else I have in foundation etc land I have in my kit. I believe you could use them for anything since you can build if you need more coverage than a light natural look. It blends into the skin SO well - color & texture & all. Plus, they're organic! smile

Thanks Ernesto! I have 6 CS palettes...just seems like I always get that ONE girl that is too light!! But i do airbrush a lot so its not a HUGE problem, but I hate not being prepared! I didn't really play with those concealers much but they seem really light and not very pinky to me...and i am PALE!! so if they work on me we should be all set! haha!

I always come back to Cinema Secrets palettes for my bridal work.  I've been there...gone there..done that...I do love liquid yaby and face from time to time...but all in all..my favorite foundation is Cinema Secrets and Kryolan.  lately.  They cover, dont run or get shiney and last.  Add to that a dusting of any dual foundation powder by YABY or Graftobian or Cinema Secrets loose no color.  It's heaven.

I have NEVER had a problem base matching with CS palettes, EVER.
