I want magenta / hot pink hair. I went to a salon and got my hair bleached and dyed pink twice. However, it has faded a lot with only 4 washes. It's only been 3 weeks. I am very disappointed and did not get my money's worth.

SO, can anyone suggest products I can purchase to dye my hair PERMANATE pink?

Sorry hun.. you're gonna have to keep re-dying it. I have red hair and even though it's a natural color, it's a new shade of red everytime i step out of the shower. I highly recommend you buy punky color which is a semi-permanent i think and re apply it like twice a week to keep the color. I could be wrong, I'm not expert but i did have magenta bangs once and they fade like crazy.

I Had bleached out my hair at one time to get pink like this
https://i1044.photobucket.com/albums/b449/KristinaYoungbloodPhotography/007.jpg
using this
http://www.hottopic.com/hottopic/Access … 280556.jsp

any wacky color is only going to last about a month at most, avoid using any deep conditioners as it strips the color out, careful about what shampoos you use and avoid to much heat, I never blow dry my hair so it lasted for a while, I acctually had to bleach out the pink in order to get a job after a while cuz it wouldnt fade enough

Best semi permanent hair dyes imo are in this order

Special effects
Punky Colors
Manic Panic

get any of the above and re dye twice a month they are pretty cheap and have any color you could want.

I find special effects hair dye lasts way longer then the other two

Pink unlike all other "spunky" colors, has a hidden secret.....ready?

https://static-resources.goodguide.net/images/entities/large/192487.jpg

L'Oreal Colour Rays carries a pink color, it's sold in drug stores. It will outlast any brand mentioned in this thread.

Also stop rinsing your hair in hot water, and buy color safe products....Le duh.

I've had my hair ever color under the sun. Pink is next to impossible to keep ( I'd know, I have it now) but this stuff has staying power.

If you can get your hands on them Adore rinses are freaking incredible.

This was one of their colors:

They make your hair so shiny and the colors are intense!

I find that they do last for a really long time, too, if you try to wash it as little as possible. Dry shampoos will be your best friend. Good luck!

all hair dyes fade from blonde-green and everywhere inbetween. and most bright 'punky' colors fade the fatest.
nothing will be fully permanent.

you need to find a good longlasting color (i've heard manic panic is good)
and rinse your hair in warm water a little as possible (dry shampoos- learn to love it)
and when you do wash it, use products to be used with color treated hair as they will strip your hair less.
also heat (any kind, blowdrier, flat irons, curling irons etc.) can tend to fade colors.
being in the sun too long will also have an effect on it.

you'll still have to dye you hair every few months (or weeks) but if you take precautions it won't fade as much.

You cannot get an unnatural hair colour permanently. It's currently impossible. Even natural hair colour fades.
I have had unnaturally coloured hair for a long time, this is how i keep it bright:

Use gentle shampoo designed for color treated hair. NO anti-dandruff shampoos. Wash it as little as you can get away with. Dry shampoo is your friend.
Buy extra dye to refresh it every couple weeks. I find i only have to do my roots to mid-lengths.
But you WILL have to redye it, sorry.
For the record, i use Punky. It works for my hair. I would recommend that or Special effects brand.

I used to have bright HOT PINK panels in my hair. It was bleached and then my stylist used PRAVANA.

My color would last weeks i mean 6 weeks without looking dingy or faded.

The key is the less you wash it the better. Applying heat to your colored hair will also made the color fade.

Also i suggest buying a PROFESSIONAL shampoo & conditioner. Redken is great but PUROLOGY i belive its called it the best out there for color treated hair and maintaining the vibrance of your color.

i use special effects (hight octane orange) in my hair once every 2 weeks(ish) - semi permanent.
Every few months i use a live xxl red permanent dye. I'd rather not think what this does to my hair but it seems to work.

I also tend to use colour protection shampoo & conditioner and then this:

my hair seems to stay bright by doing this but i dont know if my hairs in great condition... it seems fine atm!

(my pics on here don't show how bright my hair normally is)

Special Effects is my favourite brand. Atomic Pink is my favourite of their pinks - I found it to be brightest.

http://beeunique.co.uk/ has galleries showing all the colours, too.

It's only semi-permanent but you can't get permanent bright colours. If you dye your hair every three weeks at first, you will find that over time, the colour fades less.

Try washing your hair as little as possible (2-3 times a week, which you should do anyway). Also, use shampoo that doesn't strip colour; Head and Shoulders being one that tends to strip colour.

no one mentioned two of the best ones out there.. and i know a lot of people say this is the best no this one is the best..
but these honestly are the best in my opinion.  I have been dying some parts of my hair pink on and off since 2000.. I have tried special effects, manic panic, raw, punky.. the list goes on and on.

these are my two favorite brands for two totally different reasons

Joico- can be mixed with a clear mixer to tone down the magenta color... the best part about this color is that it bleaches out easily.. just from the run off of the bleach from my roots removes this color to yellow.... pretty cool

Pravana... the closest to permanant as you are going to get.. will not bleach out all the way.. stays pink and doesn't really turn to orange even if you have a fairly yellow base underneath...  I never put this in my hair because of how hard it is to remove, but a friend of mine at the salon did and we bleached over it twice and it didn't move..

many people like Goldwell Ellumine.  but i cannot stand it. works well but its a mess.. and it only works well if you use their after product called lock. and most stylists are to lazy to do it..

my third choice if I had to make a choice would be a product from Rusk called scream.. better than special effects, much better, but not better than the first two I listed..

I've used most of the products listed above (with the exception of the Joico) and Pravana is my hands down favorite. I've also used Inkworks by PM and Pravana outlasts them all. Plus it's very conditioning which is great for lightened hair.
It does however make a big mess if your coloring at home and can stain the skin if you don't rinse it correctly. It's not a lot of fun to have a pink face or back, I know from personal experience on that one.
Also, it's only sold at professional beauty supplies, so if you don't have a friend with a cosmetology license, now would be a good time to make friends.
To get to most out of an application, make sure use heat(like a blowdryer)  to help open the hairs outer layer and allow the color to penetrate as much as possible.

I use Goldwell Ellumen - PK@all , I did it every 3 weeks for the first two months and now just every 6-8 weeks and it doesn't fade at all.  I've had it pink hair for 6 years now.

Not much help on the pink front, but I've been pretty vibrant red for years, and have found that actually bleaching out and then dying with henna works the best. the red lasts at least twice as long and it doesn't kill your hair. when you need to re-up it's actually like going to the spa for your hair.

This!!!! I bleached my hair first, then used this for pink streaks. It WOULD NOT FADE OUT of my hair! I had to eventually cut it out when it got long enough. I'm talking about 6 months, no exaggeration.

I have had bright pink hair for a good 6months now, I have been through quite a few differen't brands and Special Effects is by far the best, even if its not permanent. The biggest culprit to fading is washing your hair, if your a everyday hairwashing kinda girl bright colours probably arent going to be your friend. I wash mine once a week and use dry shampoo inbetween, I usually get a good 6-8 weeks and only re colour because of regrowth. It was hard changing from washing it everyday to once a week, but worth it and saves me SO much time and my colour lasts. If you really want to preserve it longer wash in cold water only, personally I would rather have a slightly faded colour and a nice warm shower!

I had pink hair for a year. Bleaching over the pink hair will make it last longer, perhaps to the point where it won't come out at all. Another good option is putting on the pink dye, wrapping your head in plastic wrap, and letting the dye sit for 2-3 hours. Only do this with vegetable dyes (special effects & manic panic). Use special effects dye if you can, it lasts way longer than any other brands. You can also blow dry your hair just before washing out the dye.

My dye would usually start to fade a little after a month. I would redye it every month or two, and whenever I had to bleach my roots.

Ok Ive been red/hot-pink/magenta for a couple months now. I previously had black dye in my hair and when i decided to go red, i used L'oreal's Magenta. NOTE: Its specifically states for Darker shades ONLY! But see what I did was coLor remover, NOT BLEECH! Once again for those who didn't listen and didn't read correctLy,  I USED COLOR REMOVER  AND NOT BLEECH!  BLEECH KILLS AND RUINS THE ELASTICITY OF YOUR HAIR. RUINING IT WITH AMMONIA AND ALL THE HARSH CHEMICALS. COLOR REMOVER DOESNT.

SO i did that process like about two times to lightened up the black. In the end, i ended up having a honey color in my hair, a light brown shade. So I applied the red dye in my hair after. It was a tad bit dark at first because I had black tones underneath, but in the sun, and with the retouch it definiteLy brighten up. YES STAY AWAY FROM HEAT AND WARM/HOT WATER, RETOUCH AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE TO ACHIEVE THE DESIRED COLOR AND TONE WANTED.

It definitely is better than stupid manic panic. That stuff works for 2 days and then fades as hell. Dont recommend it at all if your trying to get a permanent/long lasting color.

Every time I go out somewhere, IT NEVER FAILS, I ALWAYS GET POSITIVE AND GREAT FEEDBACK FROM EVERYONE SAYING HOW MUCH THEY LOVE MY COLOR.  VERY, VERY INTENSE.  For shampoo, the first time I tried John Frieda for Red Hair. Worked good. didnt fade the color off my hair. BOught it at CVS. (smells good too smile

http://www.overstockdrugstore.com/produ … 45-oz.html

Now im using another shampoo and conditioner I bought at Sally's  called Riveting Reds. Now the intensity of the color of this shampoo and conditioner is awesomee. Works good  and helps lock in color and shine.Makes your hair brighter and richer in color day by day!

Now that Ive heard of Pravana and special effects, Im dying to try it out!  Will post up my thoughts layter!   Hope this heLps.

For your hair I would not recomend bleaching it youself... Even if I wasn't a stylist.  I didn't look at your photos, but it looks like you are asian?  Asian hair is super hard to bleach and get past that red orange stage.  Especially if it is long, and Especially if it has hair color over it.  Most people with naturally dark hair like that, will take a good colorist to know how to get the hair even and past that orange stage.  As well as how to tone it.  But basicly most clients thing that you would just throw bleach on your whole head at the same time and that is not the case at all..  You have to do it in  certain order, and leave your roots for last.

Bleaching is not an easy process, or a gentle process and it should not be taken lightly like any boxed dye from the drug store.  Go to a professional for this one.  It will cost you less in the long run and you will have less damage to your hair.  But it already sounds like you are at a color correction which those are about 100 dollars an hour at least.  depending on where you are from
