My name is Brett Pokorny. I am an experienced photographer, and have been taking photographs professionally for several years now. I am confident in my ability to find locations at which to shoot. I am also fairly skilled at working with lighting. I know how to take advantage of natural lighting as well as how to manipulate the light to better suit the picture.

I work with a Nikon D40x. For a while I was using a set of 30-year-old screw-mount lenses, but I now have several newer lenses with which I work. Because I was using such limited resources for so long, I know how to set up a wide variety of shots using a multitude of focal lengths and angles.

All of my photographs are raw files unless they are requested to be photoshopped, in which case I can crop, toy with brightness, reduce haze and adjust file size while keeping maximum possible quality.

While it may be a cliche, I agree that it is not the camera but the photographer who takes/makes the photo... but a better camera can't hurt.

Because this is a side business, my rates are fairly low. I do promise quality for my work, though. Please, feel free to contact me about rates.

I occasionally hold free photo shoots and am also available most of the time for bookings, no matter how large or small. In the text, please include your name, phone number, email address and details of your booking request (i.e. when, where, how many people, how long, how many photos, etc.).

As a photographer, I like to use my work as an escape from the standards of everyday life. While I do get paid for the majority of my work, capturing moments tends to outweigh the monetary gain from taking pictures. Photography is so freeing and fun, particularly when you are able to develop a social relationship between yourself and the model(s). The photos tend to come out more natural when you can have a conversation while taking them, and when you can properly communicate and enjoy yourself with whomever you are shooting. It's all about loosening up and building a mutual trust.

I am very flexible in what I will shoot. If you want to know if I will photograph something, just ask. I'm sure I'll be more than happy to take your picture.
