The angel wings make no sense to me. May I ask why you have a picture of an orangutan in your portfolio...? It won't benefit you here, my friend. You can afford to take that one out.

but not because of you; the lighting is meh and the colors are atrocious. It's not a well taken photograph, and therefore, it doesn't benefit you. Honestly I don't see any photos in your port that are terrible because of your modeling. I would recommend working on facial expressions, though. Become a little more dynamic in terms of emotions, and posing, too.

VKphoto wrote: yes, please. I'm new here and my port is quite tiny to pick bests and worsts, so maybe some kind of general critique will be appreciated. thanks ![smile](//assets.modelmayhem.com/images/smilies/smile.png) Your portfolio is small, so I can't see your creativity. So far, your shots are fairly generic and while you seem to use natural lighting to your advantage, there really isn't anything special in terms of content. Keep shooting and trying new things; that's all I can really tell you. Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance. Feel free to find me when you've developed more, I'll gladly offer more advice then.

Be very careful of your post work. The heavy processing on a few of your photos is off-putting. Try to stay away from negative effects and filters. Work on enhancing your photos in a more natural way (i.e. color correction, contrast adjustment, color curves, etc.). Also work on your lighting. The flash in a few of your pictures is harsh and doesn't flatter your model.

The lighting is no good and this concept has been beat to death. I don't feel you brought anything special to the table with this; just had a girl stand in a field. Where's the creativity? Shooow it. We want to see it. Or we don't want to see Alice at all. Your pictures are so small! Why are they so small? Make 'em bigger. Not huge, but big enough to establish what exactly is going on in the photo. And don't be afraid of color. Sepia is nice here and there, but not always. And, you don't need that picture of the tree. You're trying to work with human models, right? A picture of a tree doesn't show models how you would photograph them.

I..I'm sorry. I just view selective color as a dealbreaker. You have one from this series already and it's better than this one. Be weary of your post-processing; don't get carried away with effects, frames, and blur.

I don't think this really flatters you. Try to weed out the snapshots and candids from the other stuff. And narrow it down to one photo per shoot; you don't need 3 pictures of the same thing, basically.

Worst: https://www.modelmayhem.com/pic.php?pic … =96027&ua= I think you found your niche; the alternative/fetish stuff you seem to be better at. Could still use work; try more dynamic poses and maybe try doing some things with a little more color. You also explore art nudes more if you like. While I posted a nude as your worst, it's simply because that particular photo doesn't do anything for you. It's mostly about your preference. What do you want to do? What do you like doing? I vote the alt/goth/fetish route, but if you want to expand your horizons, do so.

Lauren A Farrington wrote: You sound like me. Only, I use a d60, and bought it new, and just got my hands on a speedlite. That milk-jug diffuser is alright, and just alright. I recommend using the flash on low power with the diffuser for filler light when outdoors. No photoshop here, either; I use photoscape on my PC, and it's not available for macs. Shame, cause it's a pretty nifty free program. However, it doesn't give you any where near as much control over the photos as does photoshop. I think the skill of composing good photographs is much more important than the skill of making them look cool with post work. You're right; you should focus on building your ability first and worry about processing later. So, without further ado... Best:
Well composed. Feels pretty natural, your model doesn't seem to be uncomfortable. Could use a little more pizazz, but as I said, worry about that once you've got more of a handle on photographing people. Worst:
It's boring. More like a snapshot than anything else. The one before it, you could also afford to ditch. They don't do anything for your port. Your compositions are interesting, for the most part. You don't focus on center crops, and that's a good thing. Experiment more with concepts and angles. Thank you for your comments. It gives me a lot to think about before I get a chance to do another shoot. Thanks again!

What you need to work on? Posing first, then facial expressions. Do some more interesting things with your body, instead of simply sitting there. Your expressions are ok, for the most part. You could make those a little more dynamic though, I bet. Too bad you live in Cali; I really like your look and would shoot you any day of the week.
