Jul 27 10 02:00 am Link Some words about how i work: For almost four years i'm learning everything i can to get the best result on a retouched image. I hate absolute perfection (no mole, no expression wrinkles - those are NATURAL), i don't like the dolly look or the "too-textured-face" type of retouch. Getting the best of one's features brings out the beauty, not perfecting everything. This is probably because of my passion in cosmetics and dermatology. I try my best to do a non-destructive form of retouching so the model still looks like itself. But i sometimes like to transform face features when needed (for example my bride retouch). I work alot with soft light colours, i rarely work with dodge and burn, patch, sometimes cloning. I'm using channels and Calculations for natural masking, i rarely use SOME surface blur to even out the skintone, unsharp mask when needed... I'm working with an old A4Tech X-710 mouse. I tried working with a tablet - didn't work. I'm at my best when i work with a mouse. Hope you like my work and i'm sorry if my double posting is against the rules but i didn't wanted this description to get lost in the images. If so, please merge my posts ![]() Jul 27 10 02:13 am Link If you'd like to work as a retoucher you need to pack alot more skills than what you showcased above. Most of what you have done can be done in just a few minutes and by almost everybody on this website. Its good you have strong opinions about this and that but clients who are looking for retouchers too have strong opinions and most of the time they wont hire you unless they believe you can do anything possible with good taste. Good luck. Jul 27 10 03:26 am Link You're a very competent bridal and portrait style retoucher, nice work. I did consider your reasoning behind changing the colour of lipstick in two of the images, was it a client choice or your own aesthetic decision? If it's the latter, watch out you don't end up with angry clients and MUAs ![]() The only stand-out error in my personal judgement is that in the image with the buttons you have an unattractive yellow cast. Is your monitor calibrated? Again it's just a personal preference but a valid one I think. edit: Koray as far as high street portrait studio work goes this isn't all that bad. He won't be doing Numéro covers but I'd say he's close to hirable ![]() Jul 27 10 03:31 am Link Daniel Meadows wrote: Thank you both for the feedback. Until now, i haven't been challenged with tough retouches. I usually got photos from friends, plenty of times low quality or blurred. Working on hi-res images is going to challenge me alot, but i know i can do it Jul 27 10 04:23 am Link Apologies Andreea ![]() Jul 27 10 04:43 am Link MooNy214 wrote: They won't be asking you because you showcase "basic retouch" So ppl who want other wise won't be hiring you all together.
