Feb 26 06 07:51 pm Link well a kit fee, is a tern of a fee charged for doing make-up. Myself I charge a $25 and up kit fee for projects like tfps . or some film work ,like student films, for the most part I have no problem getting this fee, the person who hires me pays me, ie. if a model wants a make-up artist she or he is the one who pays me also what were you wanting to know about the bridal side of this industry? I usually do one look very natural with a little make-up and the go a little heavier if she wishes, you can usually get a feel for a bride when meeting with her as to what she wants. get her to bring you tear sheets from magizines of what she likes, make sure to mention that these images are probably photoshopped. Mandy of Deadly Design Make-up Artistry Feb 27 06 12:09 am Link outside of the industry i don't really charge a kit fee. like with society make-up (brides, etc.) i just sort of include it in the price. mainly because, most people outside of the industry dont get the concept of a kit fee. Feb 27 06 02:28 am Link A "Kit fee" is the money to replenish your kit with supplies. A bridal contract should contain names, dates, fees and times. It should be signed by both parties and returned by the bride with a DEPOSIT. Do not accept bridal clients without getting at least 50% for a deposit. I do one look for a bridal trial. It is natural and pretty. I have her review the look and we proceed from there. If she wants more dramatic, or lashes, etc. I also airbrush brides. They are into that these days. You should spend time talking with the bride to figure out what type of look she wants, what she is comfortable wearing (ie-what she wears daily),does she have a physical picture of what she wants? Research what brides are doing in your area. Who are the popular makeup artists? What are they doing? Read magazines with brides. You shouldn't have to spend more than an hour and a half with a bride, from start to finish. This includes talking to her. You can talk to her as you prep her face. I average an hour and 15 minutes. I talk ALOT. Her application on the day of should take 25 minutes. Make sure you are comfortable applying makeup to another face. Brides can sniff out a newbie. Pamper her skin and relax her. I always burn candles and have music on. Pampering her skin does not necessarily mean expensive product. Just be comfortable in applying moisturizer and whatnot. With brides, less is more, usually. Good luck! Feb 27 06 08:30 am Link You all are great. I REALLY appreciate it! Feb 27 06 12:38 pm Link |
