June 09, 2018 4:46am Excellent. My favorite. I like your interior meditative work best. Immediately when I saw your work slightly of the Mapplethorpe doc umentary on HBO and how he fetishized the Black male. Your work doesn't do that. However, I also thought of Ta-Nehisi Coates' assertion that America has always been about the destruction of the Black body. Thankfully your work does neither of these things. But it does hold up the muscular male body as the ideal. We see women fighting in their art against any ideal, but we continually see the muscular strong male in art. This piece goes toward a more sensitive side moody side that we don't often see in art featuring Black males. Would love to see you explore this series even further. Then exhibit that in a gallery.
October 31, 2013 11:30am I like the pose in this. As a series, I like the untouched domestic setting-- these are images for the common man, everyone's terrors.
