Here is an image from a shoot I did yesterday which is part of my ongoing seasonal testing project. The temperature was in the mid 20's with wind chill ten degrees colder.

time of day: 1:30 PM
existing light conditions: hazy sun filtered through clouds and snow

I was shooting South, against the direction of the hazy sun light, and
positioned the model underneath the overhang of an old historic building to flag some of the light coming straight down onto her (see image below).
I used a nikon SB800 fitted with a Lumiquest pocket bouncer, on a stand to the models left, about 8 ft high and approximately 8 ft from the model. The SB800 was set on manual mode @ 1/16 power and gave just enough light to add slight fill and sparkle to the model's eyes (see image below). The flash was fired wirelessly with Pocket Wizard transmitter/receiver.

iso: 250
shutter speed: 1/200 hand held
aperture: f/4
camera: nikon D800
lens: nikon 70~200 2.8 VR I @200mm
capturing RAW + JPEG normal

Cool, thanks so much for sharing. I'm amazed at the softness of the background, very lovely.
