Hi there. This is the first image of a series I'm doing on mothers. The premise is that the physical effects of motherhood are beautiful remnants of a mother's love and sacrifice, and was inspired by my fantastic wife. There was no posing, just poses and expressions made during our conversation about her family. minimum retouching.

I hope that the project seems interesting and worthwhile, and this first image is a solid initial effort.

Giant softbox on the left. white foamcore on the left, grid on her hair from behind, light cast against background.

Any feedback and general thoughts on the project and this image are welcome and appreciated. Cheers!

Technically, it's a good photo.  It doesn't initially say "mother" though.  Here's one of mine that does, at least to me:

It seems like a better place to start with our project would be with your city park playgrounds, McDonald restaurants, YMCA, municipal swimming pool, etc.  Get things going with volunteers there and then go which ever way you want.  It will make sense to people.

Thanks for the feedback, but I don't think I've correctly explained my goal. "Mother" is assumed, and the goal of the project is to focus on the physical effects of being a mother, and how beautiful that is. It is to show that the marks and scars are to be celebrated, not hidden.
