...but frigates, destroyers, and cruisers, I have no real issue with.

I like Destroyers because Destroy!!!

Cruiser is a 64 Chevy Impala lowered to the ground and driven slowly in flat places.
No idea why ships get called that. Maybe "Bigger Destroyers?"

I'm no Navy man, although my grandfather was, during WWII, and he served at the Battle of Guadalcanal (I'm not in the military, anyway).  What I do remember, about the destroyer ships, is that the original name was Torpedo Boat Destroyer, as they were intended for defense against torpedo boats.  Eventually somewhere along the line, the first two words got dropped, and they were just called "destroyers".

I'm not sure what sort of ship my grandfather served on.

Dad was in the Marines, stationed at Henderson Field which had just been captured. Master Sergeant - Aircraft Mechanic.
He had lots of stories but none about Destroyers.

Obscure fact, the British at one point named their largest battle ships Dreadnaught. Martin guitars used the name for their new extra-large bodied guitars and it is still in common usage for the big Martins and guitars that copied them.

Ibanez made a Destroyer guitar which is modified copy of a Gibson Explorer. It might have destroyed some eardrums but not so much a weapon...

I used to drive a for escord when I was a kid. I remember the bumper on that thing was freaking marvelous.
one day I was driving and I was looking at something off to the side when I turned my head back there was a stopped car in front of me trying to take a left and I didnt even get a chance to put on the breaks I just slammed into the rear end of the car.

I got out and there was ...no damage.. to my car....the other car which was a fiero looked smashed and crumpled.
great bumper

You can just get a Mercury Lynx, it's the same car, same horrible driving experience.
But, without the stigma of showing up to a shoot with an announced Ford Escort.

Back in college I had an Escort EXP, which was exactly like an Escort except the removed the rear seats to make it more ‘sporty’, my insurance Co also thought it was a sports car, with rates to match.
