Unusual Pre Shoot Encounters with Models
I had lined up a shoot ( through social media ) with an Eastern European Fashion Model in my city . I went through her online photos to pick out a few outfits I live in the downtown of my city and the studio I use is a few miles away . So I am leaving home for the shoot at the studio I see this beautiful Blond Model standing on the corner of my block wearing some fashion that seemed oddly familiar to me and making a phone call ... ( because i am kind of slow at putting random things together ) it took me about 5 seconds to realize - that was my Model I was tempted to turn back and offer her a ride - but i decided that might seem to weird to her We did have a little laugh about it when we met at the studio 20 minutes later My new neighbor ( of 2 weeks ) Sep 10 20 07:30 pm Link Well, I had at least one model I didn't recognize clothed...... Sep 11 20 08:24 pm Link I think that most forum participants know that Models left this forum years ago for reasons more serious than some Photographer stating that they inadvertently saw them on the street corner ( or the beach ) before the shoot And despite your valiant efforts to promote what you believe this forum should be about - I dont think they are likely coming back Sep 11 20 10:03 pm Link Jerry Nemeth wrote: That is a very cool portrait of her Jerry! Sep 11 20 10:14 pm Link I'm sure a couple of photographers were a little concerned when they met me, (I'm very plain Jane,) usually the concerned look goes away after they take a couple of shots and see that I shoot different than I look. I've also had a couple of pre-shoot meets that I likely nearly 'almost' had the photographers change their mind, (2 photographers in Hawaii when I first started out.) I'm thankful both shot with me, (not at the same time.) One of whom I consider a friend like family now and the other, is not on MM anymore but, I ended up really learning alot from him too. Jen Sep 12 20 08:07 am Link I would have gone up to her and asked if she was headed to a photo shoot and if so, I might be the photographer she's working with. And I would have offered her a ride... if she had her own car she could decide if she wanted to come along with me, if she was going to Uber it then I could saved her some money. And being in the car together we could discuss the shoot and get to know each other (a little) so that the shoot wouldn't start off as two total strangers and maybe she'd be more at ease from the start. Sep 12 20 12:00 pm Link In the past I just talk on the phone when getting ready to go on the road to check in and once getting there. I suggest them to stay in the vehicle until I get there. In your case a phone call would had help. I don't see how anyone could not afford a phone. There even cheap prepaid phones on the market. Sep 13 20 12:44 pm Link

Sep 05 21 07:42 am Link I just had such an encounter...30 minutes ago. I was working out at the gym, and a stunning woman walked right by me and I immediately recognized her as a model that I chatted with a few times months ago. We never arranged a shoot, but she's still on my radar. I would like to arrange a shoot with her, especially after seeing how she looks in person. Should I let her know that I saw her at the gym or should I just book the shoot and not say anything? Sep 06 21 01:18 pm Link Garry k wrote: It's definitely weird not to offer a ride to her... Sep 07 21 07:32 am Link Jerry Nemeth wrote: you wouldn't know unless they are showing their ink Sep 07 21 07:59 am Link my studio is difficult to find..so I usually arrange to meet models in a public parking lot, then they can follow my car to the studio... so met one model.. and she was acting kinda weird.. but..eh..who am I to judge.. she said she needed coffee first as it was a long drive for her...like 2 to 2 and a half hours.. she was gonna go off, but she didn't know this town, so in my car, I led her to a starbucks closeby - she said to wait..welll,,it took a long, long time, but finally she came out and was walking really really slowly towards me.. she finally came to where I was and I was 'alright..let's do this shoot!!!' and she was: "uh.. I think I'm going home' ...no explaination.. she got in her car and drove the 2 and a half hours back... kind of annoying - but I always tell my kid that if something doesn't 'feel right'...just leave..just leave and deal with it by email later or something..so I can't be too upset if something didn't 'feel right' for her. Sep 07 21 08:13 am Link I once had a model show up a half hour early, and I wasn’t quite set up. That was very unusual, only time in fact. As it turned out she had entered the time an hour early in her planner. It worked out fine though. Never randomly met in public, in route to a location, etc. Sep 07 21 05:31 pm Link Not sure this counts, but I had a model show up a week early for a shoot. This was at a studio I used occasionally and happened to be shooting at when she showed up. Sadly, the two shoots couldn't be combined--far too disparate concepts. Both models took it in stride, and both sessions were ultimately successful. One just happened a week later. I've had an hour late or an hour early before/since, but never a full week.
