London UK Rates
Hi all! What are typical rates for an experienced art model shooting in London? Dec 12 21 06:30 am Link £35 to £40 per hour, exceptionally £50 per hour. Small rate reduction for half or full day bookings. Outside London, £25 to £35 per hour. Many models quote according to the job (or the photographer's requirements/portfolio) rather than having a fixed rate for everyone. Assuming you're legally entitled to work in the UK. Reason: off-topic Dec 16 21 09:16 am Link I would urge the OP, and anyone else interested in modelling within the UK, not to be influenced by anything JSouthworth says. If you examine his posting history regarding modelling here in the UK you will find it consistently and sensationally negative. It is not at all reflective of the actual situation. London (and the rest of the UK) is as safe as anywhere else in the world for models. Dec 17 21 12:33 am Link

Reason: not helpful Comments: Please stop hijacking this thread Jan 12 22 08:44 am Link How on earth, JSouthworth, did you manage to take a thread about "London UK Rates" and change the topic to what you suggest is "police corruption"??? Jan 12 22 10:06 am Link LightDreams wrote: We were discussing rates earlier, the hourly rate would obviously be dependant on, among other things, whether the shoot has been arranged by the model to take place in a studio, in which case she has to cover the cost of renting the studio. Nationally, about £20.00 to £25.00 per hour would be average for fashion modelling, whereas £30.00 to £45.00 per hour would be typical for nude work. Jan 13 22 04:49 pm Link I'm not a SME on modelling pay rates in the UK, or in Australia. However, by letting ones fingers do the walking, it should be a simple matter of finding informative websites that detail the information that the OP is seeking for the UK scene. Here are a couple of excellent Australian sites that I have found very informative. Rates will vary by location, but the details make interesting reading. Jan 14 22 03:02 am Link A look at models' profiles and quoted rates on Purpleport will give you a good idea of what female models in the UK typically charge for different levels. At the moment there is a shortage of good models prepared to shoot nude or adult levels, and many of those who do will only work at home, for safety reasons. Many will also insist on a minimum booking of 3 to 4 hours. Overall, there are fewer models available than there were a couple of years ago, this is partly because of fears over Covid-19 and also because of numerous instances of sexual assault or other abuse over the last year particularly. In general terms, the UK photo modelling scene is currently at it's lowest point in a very long time. Everything else costs more in London, so modelling rates are generally higher too. I have seen photography workshops, group sessions, call them what you will, advertised in Practical Photograhy magazine (now defunct) at rates of well over £200.00 for an hour or two to nude level. The ratio of photographers to models accross the UK is about 20 to 1, so the idea that professional models would work for nothing, or next to nothing is absurd. Ultimately, the laws of supply and demand are a major determining factor. It's perhaps worth emphasising that in the UK there is no relationship between notional pay rates for photographers, and modelling fees. A rule of thumb is that whereas models can earn money from model photography, photographers generally don't, except in rare cases. Jan 14 22 05:42 am Link Moderator Warning!
