Rest in Peace Mr.Madden

There wont be many football fans who wont know who Mr. Madden was, he was omnipresent in the sport for decades.

I met him on the sidelines when I was shooting home games for my hometown paper.(as a teenager WAAAY over my head LOL) He was "larger-than-life" then--- his locker room sessions during halftime were legendary--- particularly to an impressionable kid like me.

A lot of kids know football because of his video game series "Madden NFL" and a lot more from his decades in the broadcast booth.

God I am getting old.

Ironically he was sitting with his family watching the documentary All Madden about his life on Christmas day. Three days later he was dead. He lived a long life. Iconic figure.

When I was a kid, I read "Hey Wait a Minute (I wrote a book!) and thought it was funny. I also remember his voice from a Tinactin commercial, and of course, football.

In my mind, he was the face of football.  It's hard to believe he's gone.  RIP, Mr. Madden.
