Whenever I see a model for a beauty shop poster it almost always has one eye covered by her hair, but the uncovered eye and makeup is usually very lovely and grabs my attention away from the hair. Is that weird?

It just seems like hair photography often gives as much or more emphasis on the model's eyes as glasses photography.

No, beauty is a different field. Local salons have small budgets and if they focus on makeup they want the attention on the face. Not all beauty salons do the one eye closed thing, which may just be style thing in a local area:  Here's a Sunset Blvd Beauty shop: http://www.gaminebeauty.com/services/

Their presentation is very small budget. Most of the posters on beauty shops I see locally are simply dreadful.
