I need someone to 'splain this to me.
https://www.facebook.com/reel/232623766 … ingle_unit (actually does have something to do with photography but I still put it in the off topic forum because someone would whine for sure.) Apr 14 23 03:27 pm Link Puzzling, for sure. Apr 14 23 04:21 pm Link You are looking at a mirror reflection point (between the camera, and the Pepsi can) on the mirror. If it makes it easier think about a "pool table" shot (the point that you'd aim the pool ball at on the mirror to bounce it into the Pepsi can), to help you find the actual mirror reflection point. The view you see is whatever it would be from that mirror reflection point. Near the end of the video clip (when you can see the Pepsi can in the mirror), that reflection spot is OUTSIDE of the area where the paper blocks the view (it has moved more towards you on the mirror), and so that's the view that you see. --- Not clear, so let me try adding this... Consider where that reflection point is between the camera (via the mirror) and the Pepsi can, during the early part of the clip. The reflection point is initially on the paper itself, so the can is not visible. But as you change position, that reflection point moves and is no longer blocked by the paper, so neither is the view of the can. Explained really badly, I know. But hopefully you get the gist of it...? Apr 14 23 04:42 pm Link ALTERNATE EXPLANATION: IT'S MAGIC! Mirrors are very strange things indeed. Regardless of the viewing angle. So she falsely believes that the paper is blocking the view of the Pepsi can and you shouldn't be able to "peek behind it"... Apr 14 23 08:23 pm Link I haven't seen the Pepsi can yet. The tiny video I saw showed a red a white can, that said Diet Coke. Maybe I'm slipping LOL. Apr 14 23 09:34 pm Link Rhea Monson wrote: Hah! It seems that at least one of us needs some magical help. Or glasses... Apr 15 23 05:09 am Link The camera is not seeing what is behind the paper, it is showing a reflection point closest to the camera lens as it moves nearer to the plane of the mirror, from which the actual can (in front of the paper) is seen. This is one of the mirror tricks that magicians use. Apr 15 23 08:36 am Link |
