I've put off posting this for a bit... RIP to Jerry Nemeth (https://www.modelmayhem.com/jnemeth). He was an avid photographer and a kind man with a big heart.

He contributed here for many years, and although his posts were regularly mocked by many of you in the old fart gang here because they sometimes seemed off-beat, he was a very thoughtful man. He would occasionally send me emails or packages of cookies over the years, and I'm sure I am not the only model he did this for.

I'm sorry to hear of this sad news. "A kind man with a big heart."  those words make me wish that I knew him personally.

Jerry Nemeh was a major contributor to the forums with 33355 posts. His last activity was Dec 03, 2020.  Now I'm thinking back to all the times Jerry and I went nose to nose on these forums over everything from hockey teams, models, photography, to politics which is why we were friends on Facebook until one of us eventually unfriended the other.  I could always count on him finding something to argue about with me.  I miss the spark he brought to those spirited discussions.  It's no wonder the forums have grown about as quiet like a library with only a few monks reading to themselves.

We are missing a lot of people who brought life to these forums.  Ever wonder what has happened with Andrew Thomas Evans, Cherrystone, Orca Bay Images, and Chris Keeling who used to be regular participants in the forums?  Then there is Chris Rifkin who actually posted an announcement of his own death on here before it actually happened!! https://www.modelmayhem.com/forums/post/807805
Losing "Big A"  https://www.modelmayhem.com/BigALargerThanLife   was painful ..  I still grieve over her being gone.  I'm friends with Chris and Adrienne on Facebook as their profiles are now tributes to lives well lived. Cancer sucks!

No one really wants to talk about how limited our time is.  The fact is that there are many photographers and models I've been friends with both on the internet and in real life who have passed away.  I made this post before Memorial Day and tried reviving it for the Holiday Weekend when we are supposed to remember those past who fought and died for this country.  https://www.modelmayhem.com/forums/post/983338

I came back after a few years of being gone to see if it would be possible to revive these forums.  Is MM dead?

Oh hell, I'm so sorry to hear that...

I know a couple of us had been worried about him over the last few years.  He was going through a very difficult time (when his wife passed away) when he dropped off MM.  I have to admit to occasionally doing an obituary search, hoping that nothing came up (nothing ever did, but the last time I tried was last fall).

Sadly, it now shows up, confirming that he passed away on Dec 24th.

Thank-you for letting us all know the news, as difficult as it is.

Rest In Peace Jerry, you were a fun part of the MM forums, even if you and I got into it a bit here and there.

It perhaps says something that as soon as I read the name, I was stunned as if he was a friend and it took a moment to realize that I'd simply read his name times innumerable in the forums (and probably in the mod room, for that matter!).   RIP.

And yeah, mortaliity.  My knees remind me of my own often.

This website has been around over 18 years. I have no idea how many we've lost, but it's quite a few.  sad  I know that Hugh Jordan who was the photographer who got me to join this site so many years ago had passed from cancer. His profile is gone here, but Facebook still has his up as a tribute.  Many members have passed, and many have simply moved on.

I am glad you had nice experiences with him and your post is a sincere tribute to him.

I haven't been able to see or read anything about Bigfoot without thinking of Jerry for a number of years.  I had been saving some links to post, awaiting his return.  Jerry's return.  Not Bigfoot's return.  But in a sense, they both remain with us and always will.

Jerry had a friend and some connections up int Poconos.  We often talked about stuff like that in the forums.

I always thought he was a good guy.

I remember all these people, including Jerry N.

I stayed at Cherrystone's house and shot with him in Ohio in 2014. Haven't heard from him in years.

Had no idea Chris Rifkin has passed -- very sad to hear that. I chatted with him quite a bit back in the day. Really nice guy.

I knew Big A was gone.

This is all very disappointing news.

RIP
