I was recently signed by John Casablancas modeling agency. Its VERY expensive and I've heard mixed things about it. Should I stay with them..and fork out the money for the training or should I not go with it and just keep doing what I'm doing (I've been doing well so far). Let me know what your honest opinion is PLEASE!! Thanks to all who respond!!

Please go to www.newmodels.com

Read the article on modeling schools.  It tells you everything you need to know about them.

Then read the rest of the articles, and you will learn all the things that modeling schools should teach you, but don't.

About once a month, there is huge radio ad campaign looking for kids for Casablancas. It seems they do interviews here once a month. All the ads say "Call now...appointments are filling fast!"

They actually say in the ad "If complete strangers have come up to you on the street and said your child should be a model or actor, then you need to bring them to John Casablancas."

Think about that for a second.

You need to come to Casablancas because a complete stranger, who doesn't know a thing about your kid, (who may be shy, terrified, or have no personality) tells you the kid should be a model or actor.

You've actually heard positive things about it? I never have....

I'd suggest against it.

ABSOLUTELY NOT.
THEY STALKED ME AT A SKATING RINK WHEN I WAS YOUNGER and told me I would make it big in the modeling biz.

They just want your money and then do nothing to promote you.

Since when is a "modeling school" an agency?

Say no. It's a rip off. Save yourself a couple thousand dollars and keep doing what you are doing.

As someone stated earlier, John Casablancas is not a modeling agency, they are a modeling school.  There is a big difference.

I went with a friend who wanted to try it out and to make him more comfortable, I did a cold read for a commercial with him.  I did really well, but the guy didn't seem impressed (he lost interest in me when I told him I already had an agent and was just there for support).  My friend did his cold read and it was really bad...and the guy loved him!  haha.  He loved him because he could see all the classes he could charge my friend for to make him a big "success."

Get out of it now while you can and find an actual, legit modeling agency.

Good luck!
