Does anybody know of any good courses, books or workshops specifically for bridal hairstyling in Los Angeles or Orange County?

I have Charles Worthington's "complete book of hairstyling" and i don't think that it is detailed enough or that is has very practical applications... yeah... i am sure all the brides in orange county want super teased bouffant hair with glitter in it.

but seriously any recommendations would help.

This might just be an idiot post but I am interested in the subject of hair lately.

But based on my years of being on photoshoots.

To make simple but beautiful hair,  Put in curlers of some type, set,  then brush out as needed.
Obviously the hair on a woman of color adds much to the situation.

My post is based on some knowledge but not much real experience.

This philosophy of just copying what I have seen work has worked for me on the few shoots I have tried hair.

i can get by with fashion hairstyling on photoshoots and whatnot. i have had to pick it up by default.

i would like to learn some more polished and sophisticated styles that i can market to the everyday customers needs: weddings, special events, proms...etc

i think i am just going to buy one of those dummy heads and a couple of books and practice myself... either that or hire out a stylist for a day to show me some of the basics.

Or try assisting a hair stylist on a shoot or at a wedding not in a salon.

I started out as a Hairstylist and now do both Hair and Makeup. For hairstylings I always look through all kinds of magazines and cut out the hairstylings I like. I don't like any of the books that are out there because there is always missing some kind of information.

Patrick Cameron books are really great for wedding, updo's etc with long hair. Picture by picture detail, making special "rats" for filler, etc.. Check out his work online at amazon.com. I found a few of his books at a beauty convention -- really good info!
