Hi. I'm a newbie. My camera might be back focusing
Hi. I'm thrilled my profile just got approved. Hoping to meet some models here to work with. I just did a shoot a few days ago and I think my camera is back focusing. Am I being too picky? Should I contact the manufacturer to report the problem?

I see some green fringing on the arms in the top photo. Jul 05 08 09:18 pm Link Make, Model, Year, Lens. Jul 05 08 09:19 pm Link back focusing!? Maybe it's trying to bring "focus" back
play around with your aperture if you haven't already... Jul 05 08 09:20 pm Link PhotoJoe wrote: I'm not sure. Are those things important? I just press the round button. I'll see if I can find that information if it'll help. Jul 05 08 09:20 pm Link Turn your film around, you got it backwards. ![]() Jul 05 08 09:21 pm Link studio-obscura wrote: I don't see any settings on the camera called aperture. I'm so glad I approved this profile ![]() Jul 05 08 09:24 pm Link - Phil H - wrote: Thank you! I was anxiously waiting to see if it would get approved. I'm not sure if my skills are up to the high standards required for this site. I hope I can improve to meet the challenge. Jul 05 08 09:26 pm Link I often get backtalk from my camera, a few smacks and its OK. Jul 05 08 09:29 pm Link If this was legitimate, I would say you should check to see what zone your focus is set on.... Yuen and Randall.

Jul 05 08 09:35 pm Link PYPI COMMERCIAL wrote: High standards? Have you HAD a look around the site? LMAO! Jul 05 08 09:38 pm Link You need to use the other little round button. The one you are using is for single frame video only. Jul 05 08 09:38 pm Link PYPI COMMERCIAL wrote: So tired of you GWC's that won't read the camera manual...
Jul 05 08 09:39 pm Link Oh goodness.... you never told me you were clueless, Pat!

It can't do video so I just make mental notes and play it back in my mind. Jul 05 08 09:42 pm Link Ralph Livingston wrote: What is GWC? It's hard joining a new community when everyone throws out these code words. Maybe I should have lurked around a little longer but I need to know if there's something wrong with my camera or is it me.

Jul 05 08 09:54 pm Link Pat is the man!Jul 05 08 10:07 pm Link here is the test.
mount the camera on a tripod. Use the smallest f stop on the lens and photograph a ruler. The ruler should be set a steep angle away from the camera. So lets say you focus in camera at 8 inches you look at the enlarged image in photoshop and the image is most sharp at 10 inches or any where else, you have a problem. Professional repairs. Steve Anderson Jul 05 08 10:17 pm Link Pat, you hooked one! Better reel him in. Jul 05 08 10:19 pm Link Ralph Livingston wrote:

All this time, I thought it was death of field. Jul 05 08 10:26 pm Link You did get the type at the bottom of both images sharply in focus and I am sure they are the front most part of both images.
But it would be good to see full res versions. Jul 05 08 10:31 pm Link have the model back up just a bit when you shoot next time.

This way the model will be focused properly! Jul 05 08 10:44 pm Link Back focus? We have that with video cameras, Never heard of it with still. Do you mean the auto focus is focusing on the background not the subject? Jul 05 08 10:44 pm Link |
