I do not believe in being too literal in interpreting or creating artwork. That being said, my comment above was founded in my own impressions of the S. FLA life-style. We'll start with the background. The house and garden are hyper-typical of the houses found in the gated communities which have covered the fringes of the everglades with gated communities. Golden Gate in Naples is an example. The women of S. FLA tend to be under the sway of men wielding tons of cash which often has been procured in dangerous enterprises, requiring "security" forces and guns. The women are also pretty much abandoned, with nothing but a pile of house and a pile of money after they become pregnant. Thus the child, which of course, is clinging for dear life to the mother whom is fiercely striving to create a safe and secure life for her child. The scene and dynamic is replicated thousands of times over throughout South Florida. ok? Anyhow...you probably didn't think any of that when setting up this shot, but that's how it struck me. And, regardless of my interpretation, it's a great image graphically speaking. Let me know what you think of my interpretation.
