September 16, 2008 7:18pm Fantastic image. There is a subtle delicacy about how the models fingers are placed along the center...don't be surprised if i emulate this one day.
May 13, 2008 3:24am This one and the one after it are lovely. What I really love about this is the way the perspective works with the composition and the placement of the elements in the photo. Often I see photographs use a similar top-down perspective but without ingenuity, as if the perspective itself were new enough to warrant interest (not so). This here is not symmetric in the placement of the center line of the body, and this draws attention from the breasts to the foot and sheet, and vice-versa. I really like the interplay of the background and foreground, as there is a clear line of sight between the two making the eye travel to both places, shielded on the left by shadow and on the right by the image edge. That said, the lighting adds to this effect and is perfectly angled to give the right shadows and textural definition thereby. the hands are relaxed but the resting place seems not final, as if suggesting movement, either up or down , depending on where we decided based on how our eyes move. The leg draws attention to this crux where the two hands meed in the center of the image as the lines of the legs, hand, and the center of the body meet with enormous potential for movement. Great!
